Castle villa 2
Raharney united 3
Raharney united 3
On a sunny Friday evening, our seniors traveled to Moynalty looking to put the disappointed of last week result behind them.
It turned out to be a fantastic game of football between two solid teams. Rahareny lads took first ten minutes to see what Castle Villa were about and the home team didn’t disappoint some nice play seen them have one or two early chances but debutant Manu Oliver in goal was equal to them.
Soon after the back four led, by caption Jamie Greville including Dawid Kurplaski, Eoghan Brady, and Dylan McCarty starting to play out from the back which in turn meant our midfield could get going. Ste Pepper in the holding role was breaking up the play which meant our two ballers Kyle Spollen and Quinn O Grady could do there thing. Two wingers of Evan McGreal and Colin Kiernan and Cian Flaherty up top were starting to cause serious problems and the pressure told when Quinn crossed in for Dawid Kurplaski scored his first for Raharney with a great strike from close range.
After half time castle Villa hit back to make it 1-1 with a nice finish from there number nine. Raharenys heads didn’t drop and soon after were 2-1 with another good finish from our winger Evan McGreal. But castle Villa again did not give up and with ten minutes to go they made 2-2 from a corner kick.
Game went from end to end and with five minutes to go a free kick landed on the head of centre back Dylan McCarty who smashed home with a bullet header and cue the scenes on the Raharney bench. This win has been coming and hopefully the lads can kick on from here.
Big shout out to the lads of the bench who came on and gave everything Sam McClelland, Jordan Hillick, Thomas McGee and Kon Grearthy. Very difficult to call man of the match but coaches agree Colin Kiernan just edged it with his non stop hard work up and down the right wing.
Well done seniors!! Onto the next one! ⚽🔵⚪
