Our Senior Squad arrived in Derek Brady Park in clear sunshine and high energy this morning. The match began with high tempo and great determination by the guys with some high quality through balls. Bohermeen Celtic had scored in the first 10 minutes with a through ball putting them 1 up.
We kept our heads high and continued to search for our first goal but were unlucky with some offside runs that put us through on goal. After 20 minutes Bohermeen Celtic had gone down in our box, giving them a peno to put them 2 up.
Raharney had kept the ball in the opponents half for the next 10 minutes which we had fought one back. The ball was crossed in from the wing and brilliantly taken by Nathan who had his back to goal and turned and scored on the half valley, hitting the post and going in the net. The opponents fought back hard against the aggressive Raharney and managed to get a goal back before the break.
We arrived back in the second half with a couple of changes made. Raharney were taken down in the box in min 57" and was beautifully finished by Ste Pep into the top right hand corner and currently stays our Top Goalscorer. The fighting continued with both teams and the opponents managed to get one back in the final minutes leaving the game 5-2.
Huge credit to everyone who fought hard throughout. We take this is a learning experience and not a defeat and will return strong in our next bout next Sunday.
