Johnstown FC - 5 ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽
Raharney Utd - 4 ⚽⚽⚽⚽
Yesterday we travelled to the mdl grounds to play Johnstone with a win guaranteeing us second place. On what was another blustery day, Raharney started quickly and created a couple of early chances. Raharney nearly took an early lead with a cracking long range effort from Thomas was saved well by the keeper. However it wasn’t long before Raharney took the lead when Ryan’s long range rocket found the top corner. After this Raharney grew in confidence and created more and more chances. However it was Johnstown who struck next to equalise with a controversial goal. Raharney to their credit fought back and regained their lead after Kyle played in Thomas after an excellent run into box and and his cross found Kon who finished well to the back of the net to give us a 2-1 lead heading into the break.
Johnstown grew into the game in the second half and it didn’t take long for them to equalise. Johnstown the took the lead with another controversial goal and were then given a penalty which was converted to put them 4-2 up. Raharney were angered and battled hard to get back into the game. Raharney pulled a goal back when Daniel held the ball up well in midfield and played a through ball to Shayne who held off defenders to finish well. Raharney kept the pressure on and got a penalty when Shayne got onto Kons cross and was fouled. Shayne stepped up and calmly finished to level the game. Both teams pushed for a late winner with both sides having chances but some good saves from both keepers kept the score level. Unfortunately the winner went Johnstowns way after a long shot found its way into the top corner. Raharney never gave up but Johnstown held on to get the victory..
Plenty of contenders for Man of Match today with excellent performances all over the pitch with Daniel Alfie and Shayne with his 2 goals controlling midfield but it goes to Ryan today who was excellent both upfront and on the wing and scored a wonder goal to top things off.
Well done to Ryan and the team today. Now it's time to prepare for our upcoming final! 🏆
