Today we made the journey to Dunshaughlin looking to keep the pressure on league leaders OMP. Both teams started well but it was Dunshaughlin who had the first chance which was well saved by Kon. Raharney grew into the game and nearly took the lead when Ryan’s free kick whistled past the post. Both teams exchanged half chances but the first half ended 0-0.
The second half started the way the first half did with both teams passing the ball around well without troubling either keeper. Raharney again had a chance to seize the lead after Alfie danced through the Dunshaughlin defence but had his low shot excellently saved. Dunshaughlin used this as an opportunity to counter attack but it was Kon to the rescue again to keep the score level. Raharney finally got the break through when Jamie got on the end of Thomas’s excellent cross to finish well to the corner. Dunshaughlin were awoken by the goal and launched a series of attacks. They finally got their reward when a loose ball fell to their striker to tap home. The two teams battled on for a winner in the closing stages but both defences stood strong. Raharney regained the lead when Nathan’s acrobatic effort fell to Thomas who calmly converted to the bottom corner. Dunshaughlin to their credit kept fighting for the equaliser but some last ditch tackles and some great saves by Kon kept them at bay to earn Raharney another well deserved win.
A tough game for us today against a well organized Dunshaughlin side .
Man of the match today goes to Steven who was excellent both on the wing in the first half and in midfield in the second.
