Today we travelled to Bohermeen to try and get back on track after last weeks defeat. Bohermeen got off to a quick start and created a few half chances but it was Raharney who took an early lead when Kyle got on to the end of Alfie’s long throw to finish well at the back post. Bohermeen soon bounced back and put plenty of pressure on the Raharney defence and made more chances but Jack produced an excellent save to keep it 1 nil. Bohermeen got their equaliser shortly after with a well worked goal.
Raharney thought they had retaken the lead when Alfie got on the end of a corner but the keeper caught the ball even though there was plenty of claims that the ball crossed the line. Raharney eventually retook the lead when the keeper failed to deal with Daniel’s long range effort but Nathan was on hand to get the finish.
The second half started with Bohermeen pushing for an equaliser but the Raharney defence stood strong. Raharney doubled their lead when Shayne picked the ball up in midfield and played an excellent ball out wide to Kyle who got to the by line and pulled it back for Nathan who was on hand to finish well. Bohermeen to their credit kept pushing on and got back to 3-2 with a long range effort. Bohermeen kept attacking looking for an equaliser and it was all hands on deck from the Raharney midfield defence to keep them out, with some last ditch tackles and some poor finishing keeping the score at 3-2. The last big chance of the game fell to Raharney when Ryan got on the end of Kyle’s cross but couldn’t find the finish.
A good win from Raharney today but the result was marred by some unsavoury scenes after the final whistle. This resulted in a red card for each side.
Some good performances throughout the team today with Nathan bagging 2 more goals to add to his season tally and Kyle getting on the score sheet to with a goal and an assist but man of the match today goes to Shayne for an excellent performance in front of his back 4 today and shouring up the midfield.
